- In the USA the America the Beautiful annual pass pays off from about three parks; in Canada there is the Parks Canada Discovery Pass.
- Popular parks and roads such as Yosemite, Arches or Going-to-the-Sun Road use timed entry reservations at times – check the park website first.
- Lodges inside the parks are often booked a year ahead; campgrounds are reserved through recreation.gov or Parks Canada.
